2、tunnelventilationforpistoneffectsinfluencedbydraughtreliefshaft.FieldmeasurementsoftransientairmovementinthedraughtreliefshaftforatypicalTaipeiundergroundsubwaystationweretakenunderwinterandsummerconditions.Ithasbeenfoundthattheairinthedraughtreliefshafthasamaximumof2m/s,andonaverageliesbetween0.7an
3、d1.1m/s.ThisstudydefinesanindexPE,for evaluatingtheefficiencyoftunnelventilationbypistoneffects.Thisindexcanbeusedto analyzethepistoneffectsduetodifferentshaftlengthandsectionalarea.Themeasurementresultsshowthatthetrainpistoneffectsareeffectiveonlyforcertainshaftlengthandoperatingconditions. T
4、hisstudyalsousedtheauthoritativeSEScomputerprogramtosimulatethepistoneffects.Thesimulationresultsforinflowandoutflowvelocityprofilearealmostconsistentwiththemeasurement.Theshaftsectionalareawasalsoinvestigatedandhasbeenfoundthatalargersectionalarearesultedinlargervolumeflowrate,butthepercentageincre
5、aseislessthanthepercentageincreaseinthesectionalarea.Thiswillresultinsmallerair velocityinshaftandlesseffectiveairexchangebetweenthetunnelandtheoutsideambient.Italsohasbeenfoundthatlengthofthedraughtreliefshaftismoresoanimportantdesignparameterforefficientairexchangebypistoneffectsforundergroundsubw
